Standard Series

The Standard Series is the original Femco concept. Made of brass, with a stainless steel spring and reliable seals, it will fit all engine applications.

The original design of the Femco drain plug has changed little since its inception. Robust and reliable, the standard series has stood the test of time and is still the most popular model. It also is the most modified to the customers special requirements. Different thread lengths and turned body portions are available to match casing thickness and counterbore depth. Dust caps with a retaining chain and valve magnets are also available if required.

The Standard Series is divided up into 2 sub groups :-

  • Small Bottom (SB) which has a thread size range from M12 - M22, 1/2 - 7/8
  • Large Bottom (LB) which has a thread size range from M12 - M50, 1/2 - 2

The SB group of drain plugs use an 22 mm outlet thread onto a 12.5 mm PVC hose, allowing great control of oil flow from the engine sump to whatever collection vessel is to be used. This range of small drain plug is ideally suited to smaller engines where anything larger would look inappropriate.

Small Threaded, Large Bottom
3/8- 18 NPT Large Bottom Standard Series

The LB group of drain plugs use a 26 mm outlet thread onto a 19 mm PVC hose, so allows an increased flow rate on larger thread sizes, whilst also maintaining a high level of control. The main benefit of the LB group of drain plugs is that on a large fleet of vehicles, with a range of different engines, the end fitting can remain standard over all of the drain plugs. That allows the servicing can be carried out using common equipment.

The Operation

Once the drain plug has been fitted to the equipment, the oil is drained as follows :-

  1. Remove the dust cap, by hand
  2. Position a container into which the drain hose is aimed
  3. Screw the drain hose onto the drain plug, by hand
  4. Allow the oil to empty into the container
  5. Remove the drain hose, by hand
  6. Replace the dustcap and hand tighten
